What you will be able to do with this connection
This connection setup enables 2 features:
- Visibility of total balance.
- Route money into your account (also called “pushing” funds).
Requirements to Connect
- You have an account with Robinhood.
- You will need your account and routing numbers. We will walk you through that below.
- You have a Sequence account.
- You will need whatever device you use Sequence on - desktop or laptop.
- You’ll likely encounter some Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA). So, you’ll need:
- Whatever device you receive text messages on
- Whatever device you use the Robinhood Mobile app on
Connection Instructions
If you’ve connected accounts using Plaid previously, you should be able to run through that section fairly quickly.
Routing and account numbers can be found via the Browser interface or the mobile app. Instructions for both are below.
Connecting via Plaid
The following process enables a connection with Plaid that enables the display of your Robinhood account balance:

Click this link to navigate to the Sequence login page.

On the bottom center of your money map click the add account button.

Select the Beneficiary & Investment Account

You should now see the Plaid connector.

Click Continue to go to the next step.

Enter your Phone number and click continue. Note that if you have previously used Plaid your phone number may be autofilled.

Plaid will send you a text message with a code. Enter the code and you should move to the institution selection screen.

We should only see investment institutions because back in step 3 we selected “Investment account.”

In this case we will select Robinhood.
- If you don’t see Robinhood listed in the displayed institutions then type
Robinhood
in the search field. - The Sequence Needs Screen
- Click the Continue button to approve.
You should encounter two screens in succession here:
- If you don’t see Robinhood listed in the displayed institutions then type

After clicking the “Continue to login” button in the previous step, a new browser window will open with the Robinhood login page.

Enter your credentials and click the “Log In” button.

After clicking login you should see the Robinhood OAuth screen requesting a connection between Sequence and Robinhood. Click Allow to continue.

You should now see a Plaid based account selection screen displayed.

Select accounts you would like to include by checking the appropriate boxes.

Click Continue.

Plaid will now work its connection Magic. 🪄

You should now see a Robinhood node representing your account in your Sequence money map.
⚡ Don’t be concerned if the node displays Action required
. We will fix this in the next step.
Adding your Routing and Account Numbers

After completing the Plaid connection, you should have at least 1 Robinhood account node in your Sequence money map. However, it likely says ”Action Required.”

Click on the node to open the slide-out view with your account details. You should see an orange warning about connecting your routing and account numbers.

Click on the connect icon & text on the right side of the warning.

You should now see The “Connect Investment Account” dialogue box, where you will enter your routing and account numbers.

There are two places you can get those numbers:

Robinhood desktop browser app

Use your preferred browser to login to Robinhood.

After clicking login you may receive a 2FA (Two-Factor Authentication) request depending on your Robinhood security settings.
- Approve the 2FAv request to move forward.

On the top navbar in the upper right click on “Account.”

From the dropdown menu select “Transfers.”

On the Transfers tab of the Account screen select Set up direct deposit.

You should now see the “Set up direct deposit” screen

Transfer the routing and account numbers obtained in the previous step to the Sequence dialogue box opened in step 4.

Click Submit and the orange warning should disappear.

Robinhood mobile app

On your mobile device open the Robinhood App and log in.

On the navbar at the bottom click on the accounts icon.

In the account screen click on the hamburger menu in the upper right corner.

In the menu that opens select “Transfers.”

In the Transfers menu select “Set up direct deposit”

You should now see your routing and account number.

Transfer the routing and account numbers obtained in the previous step to the Sequence dialogue box opened in step 4.

Click Submit and the orange warning should disappear.

If you would like to test your connection, you can go to your Sequence Activity Log and run a manual transfer by clicking on the “Transfer Manually” button located in the upper right of the Activity Log screen.
⚡ For faster manual transfers use money already in a pod. Transfers from pods to external accounts are 2x faster than transfers from external accounts to external accounts.
