What you will be able to do with this connection

As of October 1st, 2023, Fidelity has limited data sharing to their exclusive provider. You can read more here.

This means connections via Plaid are not possible at this time, and live balances for Fidelity accounts are not viewable in Sequence.

However, we will still be able to route money to Fidelity accounts via Sequence. This connection setup details two methods:

  1. Route money into your account (also called “pushing” funds).
  2. Use an EFT at Fidelity to transfer from a pod (called “pulling” funds).

You may select one method or mix and match as you see fit.

🗒️ Note that both methods route money into the Fidelity ecosystem. This guide does not cover routing funds out of the Fidelity ecosystem.

Requirements to Connect

  • You have an account with Fidelity.
    • You will need your account and routing numbers. We will walk you through that below.
  • You have a Sequence account.
  • You will need whatever device you use Sequence on - desktop or laptop.
  • You’ll likely encounter some Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA). So, you may need one or more of the following:
    • Whatever device you receive text messages on
    • Whatever device you use to access the Fidelity Mobile app
    • Whatever device you use to access your preferred authenticator app

Connection Instructions

The Push Method: Using Sequence to route money to Fidelity

The below method has 2 overall tasks:

  2. Create a manual account in Sequence and transfer the associated account and routing number found in the previous step.

If you have multiple accounts with Fidelity you can repeat these 2 tasks for each account.

Task 1: Finding your Routing and Account Numbers

Routing and account numbers can be found via the browser interface or the mobile app. Instructions for both are below.

There are 2 places you can get those numbers:

    2. You should be on your Portfolio Summary Screen.

    3. On the middle row of the upper navbar hover over “Accounts & Trade” and select Transfers from the menu that appears.

On your mobile device open the Fidelity App and log in.

On the bottom navbar select “Transact.”

From the “Transact” Screen tap on the Transfer icon.

Testing

Testing the Push Method

If you would like to test your connection, you can go to your Sequence Activity Log and run a manual transfer by clicking on the “Transfer Manually” button. The button is located in the upper right of the Activity Log screen.

⚡ For faster manual transfers use money already in a pod. Transfers from pods to external accounts are 2x faster than transfers from external accounts to external accounts.

Testing the Pull Method

After ensuring that your Fidelity pod has funds and your pod has been verified at Fidelity, you can run an EFT on the Fidelity Website or in the Fidelity App.
