Sequence is designed to sit between your sources of revenue—such as paychecks, customers, and payment platforms—and the final destinations of your money. This positioning allows Sequence to route your money quickly and accurately to where it needs to go.
An Income Source functions like a checking account, designed to receive your revenue—whether it’s a W2 paycheck, ACH payments from customers, or transfers from platforms like Stripe or Shopify. As a Sequence user, you can create as many Income Sources as you need.
How to Route Your Money Into an Income Source:
For W2/Paychecks:
You can either use the Salary Switch feature or manually copy the routing and account number from your Income Source panel and provide it to your payroll provider.
For Business Revenue:
Simply use the routing and account number from your Income Source panel (as shown in the image above) and provide it to customers or update it in your payment platforms like Stripe, Square, Shopify, PayPal, Airbnb, etc.
For Paper Check Deposits:
Deposit checks directly into your Income Source. Tap the three dots in the top navigation bar of the Income Source panel and follow the instructions to take a picture of the check and follow the prompts.
Best Practices for Using Income Sources
The most effective way to use an Income Source is to funnel your revenue through it and distribute it to your desired destinations—liabilities, business checking, personal checking, operating expenses, tax accounts, investments, and more. This flexibility allows you to manage your money according to your specific financial needs and goals.
Additional Benefits for Pro and Business Users
If you’re on the Pro or Business tier, you can also mark transfers as Direct Deposits, which is especially helpful when paying yourself or your employees. This feature also allows you to receive payments up to two days early.
To enable Direct Deposit, simply go to your account settings (via the three dots in the top menu) and toggle on the "Mark as Direct Deposit" option. See the image below for guidance.
To activate getting paid two days early go to Profile (person icon on the top right) -> settings and activate the toggle to on. See image below
